Receiving Faxes
Incoming faxes received on your GreenFax virtual fax number are automatically forwarded via email as attached files. Inbound faxes may be forwarded in either PDF or TIFF format, and you can add up to five email addresses where inbound faxes are forwarded.

GreenFax recommends PDF format, as PDF files are easily opened and printed on virtually any type of system using the Adobe Reader, available free of charge from Adobe, Inc. TIFF files can be opened and printed on most Microsoft Windows systems using the TIFF viewer that comes bundled with Windows 98 and above.

You can change your inbound fax delivery options by logging into your account at GreenFax.com (under 'Account Preferences'). You can also login to your account to view logs of inbound faxes and download faxes (faxes are stored for 90 days).

Receiving Faxes Securely
Standard email is inherently insecure. Although unlikely, it is possible for inbound faxes forwarded as email attachments to be intercepted in route through the internet from our system to your inbox.

For users who receive sensitive or confidential faxes, GreenFax provides an option for receiving faxes securely. This option is available by logging into your account (under 'Account Preferences'). Using this option, notifications of inbound faxes are sent via email, without faxes attached. Faxes may then be downloaded securely from the GreenFax.com web site (through an SSL connection) after clicking a link in the email notification and providing the correct account login password. There are no additional charges for using this option.

Archival Service
GreenFax Archival Service is available to GreenFax customers that receive faxes through the GreenFax Signature Service or Toll Free Service. Customers using the archive service will receive a CD after the end of each calendar quarter containing an archive of the faxes that were received on their GreenFax vitual fax number during the previous quarter. Extra charges apply. More...

Integrators
GreenFax now offers the option to FTP your inbound faxes to a location on your FTP server. Contact GreenFax Support for more info. There are no additional charges for this service.

Sending Faxes
Sending faxes through GreenFax is as easy as sending email. Simply compose an email message using the following instructions (see illustration below).

1) Address the email to FAXNUMBER@GreenFax.com. For example, to send a fax to 12125551212 you would address the email to 12125551212@GreenFax.com. For faxes to USA destinations, be sure to preceed the 10 digit fax number with the digit 1. For international faxes, precede the fax number with the proper country code. Do not include the 011 prefix for normally used for international calls from the US.

2) Enter your GreenFax send code in the subject field. (This send code is used to authenticate your email-to-fax job, and should not be the same as the password used to login to your GreenFax account).

3) Attach one or more documents to be faxed. GreenFax supports most common types of documents, including MS Word documents, PDF documents, HTML documents, Excel spreadsheets, and many more. Click here for a complete list of document types supported.

You may also include plain or formatted text in the body of the email. If included, this text message will appear on a cover page prepended to the fax. To send a fax consisting of text only, you may simply type the text message in the body of the email without attaching a document.

4). Click Send.

GreenFax will attempt to send the fax. A confirmation notice (or failure notice) will be returned via email containing statistics about the fax transmission.

Note: Email-to-fax jobs are limited to 100 pages in length, 9 email attachments, and 10MB in total size.

Login to your account at the GreenFax.com web site to access logs of faxes sent. You may also change account preferences including email addresses authorized for sending faxes, and name or fax number to appear in the fax header of faxes sent through GreenFax.

Optional Subject Line Parameters
You may specify a 'job code' associated with your fax, for billing or reference purposes. This job code will appear on the confirmation or failure notice returned, and will appear on outbound fax logs.

You may set the sender name or fax number, which appears in the header in the upper margin of the pages of the faxed document. Use this option to set the sender on an individual fax basis, and override the sender specified in the account preferences.

Subject: sendcode=xxxxx jobcode=yyyyy sender=zzzzz
(jobcode and sender are optional)

Integrators and Application Developers
GreenFax provides a number of powerful tools for integrators and application programmers to use for submitting fax jobs to GreenFax and capturing their status. Please see our integration guide for more info.

Fax Broadcasting
1) Create a new email message addressed to broadcast@GreenFax.com.

2) Enter your send code in the subject line.

3) Attach the document to be broadcasted. (NOTE: Attach only one document to a fax broadcast job).

4) List each of the destination fax numbers in the body of the email, one per line, without punctuations. 10-digit US or Canadian fax numbers only. Fax numbers may be preceeded with the digit "1".

5) Click Send.

GreenFax will automatically process the fax broadcast job. A summary report will be returned via email containing summary information about the broadcast job, as well as a detailed log containing statistics for each fax transmission in the job.

Note: We highly recommend sending a test fax to your own fax number before sending a large broadcast job. By doing so, you will see exactly how the document will appear on the receiving end, and you will be able to gauge the cost to send the entire job based on the cost to send the test fax. We cannot assume responsibility for errors or costs that could have been avoided by running a test fax.

Account Preferences
Login to your account at GreenFax.com to change your account preferences such as: email addresses on your account, fax sending and receiving preferences, and billing options. You may also access logs of faxes sent and received, account information, and billing history.
